Eligibility: No restrictions on nationality or academic background
 
Categories / Performance Time / Entry Fee
 
A. 9 years old and under – within 6 minutes – ¥13,000
B. 10 to 13 years old – within 8 minutes – ¥13,000
C. 14 to 17 years old – within 10 minutes – ¥14,000
D. 18 to 21 years old – within 13 minutes – ¥15,000
E. 22 to 25 years old – within 13 minutes – ¥15,000
F. 26 to 35 years old – within 15 minutes – ¥15,000
G. 36 years old and above – no age limit – within 15 minutes – ¥15,000
(Age is determined as of the entry deadline.)
 
Repertoire
•Free choice of repertoire (multiple pieces allowed)
•Classical music from Baroque to Contemporary
•Participants may freely select pieces that best reflect their musicality and artistry.
•Pieces that have not been published or original compositions are not eligible.

Prizes
•Grand Prize: ¥200,000
•Second Prize: ¥100,000
•Total Prize Amount for Top Winners: ¥100,000
•Each category: 1st to 6th place, Jury Prize, Encouragement Prize, Honorable Mention
 
Certificates
•Domestic winners: Certificates will be mailed.
•International winners: Certificates will be sent online.
•Certificates will not be reissued once issued.
 
Special Awards
•Invitation to perform at Tokyo Ginza Oji Hall on November 2, 2025 (Sunday) and at the Basel Music Festival (Autumn 2025)
•Grand Prize Winner: Invited to perform at the festival (airfare and accommodation covered by the organizer).
•Second Prize Winner: Invited to perform at the festival (accommodation covered by the organizer).
•1st place winners of each category: Selected participants will be invited to perform at the festival (participation fee waived).
•Top winners: Selected participants will be invited to perform at the festival (with partial ticket cooperation required).
•The organizers will also provide opportunities for prize winners to perform in concerts.
 
Payment Information
 
Entry Method
•Entries must be submitted online through the formrun system.
•Ensure you can receive emails from formrun system and kontakt@klassikwettbewerbbasel.info (check spam filters).
•Attach proof of age (e.g., student ID, driver’s license, passport) and a copy of the entry fee payment receipt.
•Minors require parental consent.
•The video must be recorded after January 2024.
•The performance may be recorded in a studio, salon, concert hall, practice room, or home.
•Performances must be memorized.
•The silhouette of the performer and their hands must be clearly visible.
•Upload the video to YouTube or Bilibili and submit the URL.
•For YouTube, set the privacy to Unlisted.
•The title must include “Basel International Flute Competition 2025” and the description must include the category, name, and piece title.
•If the performance includes copyrighted music, participants must apply for permission at their own expense.
•The specified performance time must be strictly followed.
•Ensure the audio volume is properly adjusted in the video.
•The performance can be recorded in one take or in separate segments.
•The video quality will also be considered in the judging process.
•Once submitted, videos cannot be changed.
•Deleting a submitted video without permission is not allowed.
•The order of entry does not affect the ranking.
•Prepare for your entry well in advance.
•In case of submission errors, apply via email.
•Incomplete entries may be subject to deductions.
•Check the website for updates.
 
Terms & Conditions
•The rights to media coverage (Internet, newspapers, magazines, etc.) related to the competition belong to the Basel International Flute Competition.
•Entries must be submitted online only.
•Entrants must check the competition website for results.
•If the number of entries exceeds expectations, the number of jury comments per category may vary.
•Judges may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
•Jury comments will be sent via formrun system approximately one month after the competition ends.
•Grand Prize and Second Prize winners must participate in the music festival.
•Failure to attend will result in no cash prize being awarded.
•Transportation and instrument arrangements are the responsibility of the performer.
•Festival participants will be selected by the organizing committee.
•Prize money will be transferred via bank transfer within two months after the competition.
•Prize money is awarded only to those who comply with the competition regulations.
●Conditions for prize money: Only entries judged by the Executive Committee to be excellent and worthy of winning a prize will be eligible.賞金の条件:実行委員会が優秀かつ賞に値すると判断した作品のみ対象となります。
•In cases of exceptional performances, the prize may be split among multiple winners.
•For international bank transfers, fees will be deducted from the prize money.
•The performances of top winners will be publicly available (originally unlisted but will be made public).
•Deleting a video without permission during the competition period will result in disqualification.
•The organizing committee reserves the right to award prize money as deemed appropriate.
•If misconduct or defamation against the organization is discovered, prizes and prize money may be revoked.
•If a winner deletes their video after receiving the prize, they must return the prize money and will lose the title.
•In case of force majeure, the competition may be canceled.
•Due to global circumstances, the entry period may be extended or rules may be adjusted.
•Entrants’ personal information will be strictly managed by the organizing committee.
•No objections regarding scoring or prize money will be accepted.
•Any defamatory actions against the competition may result in prize revocation and legal action.
•No refunds will be given for any reason after the application has been submitted.
