Age Divisions / Performance Time Limits

 

A. Up to 6 years old – within 5 minutes
B. 7–9 years old – within 6 minutes
C. 10–12 years old – within 8 minutes
D. 13–15 years old – within 10 minutes
E. 16–18 years old – within 12 minutes

 

 

Repertoire

 

Free choice of classical music (from Baroque to Contemporary periods)
• Upright or grand piano is acceptable. (Digital piano also allowed for Junior Division.)
• For vocal category, songs from children’s repertoire and musicals are acceptable.
• Judging will be conducted up to the maximum allotted time.
• Multiple pieces are allowed.
• Works without published scores or self-composed pieces are not eligible.

Prize Money

 

Total Amount: 200,000 JPY

 

Prize money will be awarded to outstanding prize winners who meet the standards set by the Competition Committee.
If applicable, the total prize fund will be divided among multiple winners.

Participation in the concert is free of charge.

 

 

Certificates
• Domestic participants: certificates will be sent by post.
• Overseas participants: certificates will be issued electronically (PDF).
• Reissuance of certificates is not permitted.

 

 

How to Apply
• Apply through the official website using the entry form (Formrun system).
• Please ensure that you can receive emails from formrun system and musik.bs.europa@gmail.com.
• Attach a copy of an age verification document (student ID, passport, etc.) and proof of payment.
• Video recordings should, in principle, be made after January 2025.
• Recordings must be made in a music studio, salon, concert hall, or practice room.
• Orchestral accompaniment is not allowed.
• Performance must be from memory.
• The performer’s upper body or full body must be clearly visible.
• Upload your video to YouTube and send the unlisted link via the entry form.
• Slightly exceeding the time limit is acceptable, but judging will be limited to the specified duration.
• Ensure proper recording quality — check for volume, stability, and clarity before submission.
• If performing a copyrighted piece, please ensure proper copyright clearance in accordance with your country’s law.
• No video changes will be accepted after submission.
• Do not delete the video without prior permission from the Committee.
• In case of technical issues with the form system, entries may be accepted by email.
• Please check our official website regularly for updates.

 

 

Rules and Regulations
• All media coverage (internet, newspapers, magazines, etc.) related to the Competition belongs exclusively to the Basel International Online Junior Music Competition 2026.
• Entries must be submitted via the official entry form.
• Results will be announced on the official website; participants must check by themselves.
• Jury comments (if applicable) will be sent by email approximately 1–2 months after the competition ends.
(Processing time may vary; your understanding is appreciated.)
• The number of jury comments may vary by category.
• No objections or inquiries regarding the jury’s decisions will be accepted.
• Jury members are subject to change without prior notice.
• Prize money will be awarded within two months after the competition.
• The organizer may request selected winners to submit performance videos (mp4 format) for public presentation.
• Deleting a video without permission during the competition period will result in disqualification.
• Deleting a video or defaming the organizer after prize payment may result in revocation of awards and repayment of prize money.
• Falsification of age or academic information will lead to disqualification and withdrawal of prizes.
• Personal data of participants will be strictly managed by the Committee.
• The Committee reserves the right to cancel or postpone the event due to force majeure (natural disasters, war, or other unforeseen circumstances). In such cases, participation fees will be refunded minus administrative costs.
• Depending on world circumstances, the entry period or regulations may be subject to change.
• Entry fees are non-refundable once the application is submitted.
• Inquiries or appeals regarding evaluation methods or prize allocations will not be accepted.
