Supraleitung Methode Japan®︎ Piano Competition 2026

 — Official Guidelines (English Version)

 

Purpose

The competition aims to respect each performer’s individuality and unique sound, and to provide an international platform that enhances global piano education while helping participants communicate the true beauty of each work.

 

 

Preliminary Round

Format: Video screening (YouTube – Unlisted)

Application Deadline: August 17, 2026 (Mon)

Announcement of Results: September 3, 2026 (Thu)

 

 

Final Round

Format: Live performance judging

Date: October 3, 2026 (Sat)

Venue: Piano Salon Studio NOAH Denenchofu (Tokyo)

Final Results Announcement: October 18, 2026 (Sun) — published on our website

Eligibility

 

No restrictions on nationality or educational background.

 

 

Categories

A: 7–9 years

B: 10–12 years

C: 13–15 years

D: 16–18 years

E: 19–24 years

F: 25–30 years

G: 31–36 years

H: 37 years and above

 

 

Repertoire Requirements

 

Preliminary & Final Rounds: Free choice of repertoire

A/B: up to 6 min

C/D: up to 8 min

E/F: up to 10 min

G/H: up to 12 min

•All works must be performed from memory.

•The same repertoire may be used for both rounds; multiple pieces are allowed.

•Overseas applicants may participate in the Final Round via video screening (YouTube – Unlisted).

•Japan-resident applicants may also choose to submit a video for the Final Round if preferred.

•Depending on the number of finalists, live performance may be stopped at 10 minutes; this will not affect judging results.

Final Round:

A/B/C/D – ¥22,000 (tax included)

E/F/G/H – ¥24,000 (tax included)

Supraleitung Methode Japan®︎ Grand Prize:

A trip to Singapore (airfare & accommodation included)

 

Jury Prize: ¥30,000

Teacher Award will be given to the instructors of top prize winners.

 

 

Participation Rules

•All submitted media and recordings become the property of the organizer.

•If using copyrighted works, applicants must obtain proper permission.

•YouTube submissions must be set to Unlisted.

•Minor time exceedances are allowed (judging will only consider up to the time limit).

•Videos must be recorded within one year prior to submission.

•Applications must be submitted via the formrun entry form.

•Incomplete applications will be disqualified.

•Final Round schedule will be announced in early to mid-September.

•Final Round performance times cannot be selected by participants.

•The Final Round is closed to the general public.

•Jury comments will be provided only to Final Round performers.

•Applicants requiring visas must obtain them at their own responsibility; invitation letters can be issued upon request.

•Interpreters, if needed, must be arranged at the participant’s expense.

•Entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances (including personal reasons or failure to obtain visas).

•In cases of force majeure (natural disasters, war, epidemic, etc.), the Final Round may be moved to an online format.

 

 

Judging Results

•Prizes will be awarded only to participants deemed eligible by the committee under the established rules.

•Prize money will be issued within two months of the announcement.

•Questions or objections regarding results will not be accepted.

•Posting false information on social media may result in prize cancellation and necessary action.

 

 

Rule Changes

•Jury members may change without notice due to global circumstances.

•Rules may be revised depending on the world situation; updates will be announced on our website.

 

 

Expenses, Accommodation, and Insurance

•All expenses must be borne by the participant.

•Flights and accommodation should be arranged individually (organizer assistance available for an additional fee).

•The organizer is not responsible for accidents, illness, or injury during the competition. Participants should purchase insurance as needed.

Access from Haneda Airport (approx. 40 minutes):

Airport → Bus to “Kamata” → Tokyu Tamagawa Line to “Tamagawa” → Tokyu Toyoko Line → get off at “Denenchofu”
